The Triton rental and services division, via Aberdeen and Singapore-based Dynamic Positioning Services and Houston-based ETS, have invested in the new Tiny Optical Gyro System (TOGS), the world’s smallest subsea gyrocompass which allows clients operating smaller electric ROV systems to carry out subsea construction, metrology and inspection operations which have traditionally been conducted using workclass ROV systems and larger offshore construction vessels.
It is the latest investment by the Triton Group in CDL technology. The Group previously purchased 12 of CDL’s latest Digital Video Telemetry systems.
Scott Johnstone, business development director for the rental and services division, said: “Investment in these new miniature gyroscopes is further evidence of our commitment to meeting continually rising demand for world-class subsea engineering products, a commitment which has resulted in investment in excess of US$11mn since 2008.
“Our customers operate within some of the harshest environments and most remote locations on the planet where innovation and leading technology provides the edge to keep them ahead of their competitors and we are delighted to be able to add this latest product to our world-leading rental portfolio.”
CDL chief executive officer Colin Crichton said: “We are delighted to continue our successful working relationship with the Triton Group. The addition of these TOGS systems to their rental pool is an important stage in the roll out of TOGS low cost fibre optic gyro system technology to the survey and ROV marketplace.”
Formed in 2007, Triton Group comprises eleven companies offering a range of products and services to the subsea energy industry centred on engineering and technology, product manufacture and system integration, and operations support and services.
