A new addition to Cygnus’ UT range is the Cygnus High-Temperature Ex Probe, which like the Cygnus 1 Ex Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge, is ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certified for use in all hazardous/explosive areas such as Zone 0, 1 and 2

Serving locations that run the risks of fire or explosion from ignitable or flammable substances in the air, the equipment, along with Ex Gauge, can measure wall thickness, corrosion or erosion of hot assets in-service across oil and gas, refining, energy, and process sectors.

Exceptional wear resistance

From chemical, power and processing plants, to petrochemical or oil and gas refineries, multiple hot assets are present in the air at dangerous concentration levels, and need regular inspection. The Ex Probe's wear resistance is capable of matching such volatility with its continuous contact time on hot surfaces up to 300°C. Besides, it does not require any cooling period, shutting down or isolation, ensuring a smooth and effective running of measurement and testing schedule.

Developed with Ionix Advanced Technologies, this twin-element, 5.0 MHz ultrasonic probe measures the remaining wall thickness range from 2.5 mm to 50 mm, depending on the temperature and material. To ensure extra protection and durability, a special probe cable wrapped in a glass-fibre outer braid has been designed to complement the High-Temperature Ex Probe. The probe and probe cable are sold separately to enable lower replacement costs.
