Aker Solutions has signed a contract with ExxonMobil to supply subsea umbilicals for the Erha North phase two development in Nigeria

The Erha North Phase 2, located approximately 97 km offshore Nigeria in water depths between 1,000 m and 1,200 m, marks an extension of the existing Erha subsea system and infrastructure.

Aker Solutions’ scope of work will include the delivery of two dynamic and two static steel tube umbilicals measuring a total length of 16.5 km. The umbilicals will be delivered in 2014.

“We are pleased to extend our global footprint and support ExxonMobil in Nigeria. Aker Solutions provides cost effective and technically advanced subsea umbilicals worldwide and we look forward to execute another deepwater project," said Aker Solutions’ umbilicals business area head, Tove Roskaft.

“Aker Solutions is committed to developing the Nigerian oil and gas industry through technology transfer and training of Nigerian nationals.”

The umbilicals will be designed, engineered and manufactured at Aker Solutions’ facility in the US, supported by a local project management and engineering team in Lagos, Nigeria.

Subsea umbilicals are deployed on the seabed to supply necessary controls and chemicals to subsea oil and gas wells, subsea manifolds and any subsea systems requiring remote control.
