ABB will showcase its NeoGear and PrimeGear switchgear solutions for oil and gas sectors at ADIPEC 2021, which is set to increase output efficiency, while reducing risk and lowering environmental footprint

Building on the success of its proven NeoGear technology, ABB has further developed NeoGear, the safest low-voltage switchgear on the market for operators and maintenance engineers. Its revolutionary design eliminates hazardous exposure to live parts and has 90% fewer electrical joints to improve switchgear availability.

ABB’s NeoGear switchgear offers a reduced physical footprint by up to 25% compared to equivalent switchgear technologies. Within this compact footprint, it also achieves energy efficiency of up to 20% due to reduced heat dissipation. Additionally, new digital capabilities deliver up to overall 30% lower operational costs thanks to for example a more efficient condition monitoring – making it a revolutionary step forward for sustainable switchgear.

The recently introduced four-pole version as well as the upcoming 690 V version makes NeoGear a practical solution for numerous market segments and industries, including utilities, food and beverage and infrastructure. NeoGear is also ideal for data centers and light industries where the highest safety standards and reliability are essential and where the reduced physical footprint and weight reduction of the switchgear are key benefits.

Visitors at ADIPEC will also have the opportunity to learn more about ABB’s PrimeGear ZX0 – the company’s sustainable, intelligent, medium-voltage primary gas-insulated switchgear.

With PrimeGear ZX0, ABB developed an all-in-one solution. PrimeGear ZX0 is available with SF6 or eco-efficient gas mixtures Dry Air or AirPlus, an eco-efficient gas mixture with a global warming potential of less than one. It is also available with an optional eco-ready panel enabling customers to choose SF6 insulation and easily switch to AirPlus or Dry Air in the future. For a smarter experience, the PrimeGear ZX0 incorporates remote monitoring and diagnostics features, providing real time information and greater ease to track asset health from anywhere.

Made to withstand a range of temperatures and climatic conditions such as high humidity, the PrimeGear ZX0 is an ideal solution across industries in the Middle East – providing up to 20% less heat generation. Placing safety at the forefront, ABB’s switchgear also features a robust design, mechanically tested to withstand an arc flash event.

“As a leader in digitalisation, automation and electrification, ABB is demonstrating how its technologies can empower the oil and gas industry to operate with greater productivity and safety. We are committed to helping energy companies operate in a more sustainable and secure manner and believe that ADIPEC provides an essential platform on which to conduct such dialogues. We look forward to meeting decision-makers at the exhibition, offering our consultation to accelerate efficiencies and enable new, clean energy transition for a better future,” said Khalid Mandri, global head of marketing and sales distribution solutions, ABB.
