Aker Solutions and Sonamet have signed a partnership agreement to supply oil production equipment for the Kaombo offshore project operated by French oil group Total through its subsidiary Total E&P Angola
Under the contract with Total, the consortium will supply subsea equipment to the oil company for the development of Block 32 in the Kaombo offshore project. The contract is valued at about US$2.4bn and general director of Total, Jean Michel Lavergne, revealed that the contract will lead to the manufacture of 84 tonnes of structure and equipment.
The agreement is a part of the consortium of Norwegian industrial group Aker and the Angolan oil services company Prodiaman Oil Services, which will manufacture subsea equipment including manifolds, jumpers and wellheads to be used for oil production at Sonamet’s worksite in Lobito, a town on the Angolan coast.
The Kaombo offshore project includes six fields between depths of 1400 metres and 1950 metres. Total E&P Angola has a 30 per cent stake in Block 32 with Sonangol with 30 per cent stake. Sonangol Sinopec International carries 20 per cent interest, Esso Exploration and Production Angola (Overseas) Limited carries 15 per cent interest and Galp Energia owns five per cent stake.
