Chevron has awarded UK-based company Subsea 7 an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) topside contract worth US$150mn for the development of the Lianzi field in an unitised offshore zone between Congo-Brazzaville and Angola

According to the terms of the contract, the work will include a 200mT module hosting a high-voltage generation system for a new subsea direct electrically heated pipeline cable, a 80mT flow meter deck extension and various upgrades on the platform.

Olivier Carre, senior vice-president for Subsea 7's Africa and Gulf of Mexico territory, said, "Following the award to Subsea 7 earlier this year of the subsea installation works for the Lianzi development, we are proud of the award of the topsides modifications works, which demonstrates our proven capabilities in the offshore hook-up and revamping segment."

The offshore works, which have been scheduled for H2 2014, will include installation, hook-up and commissioning services.

Onshore fabrication on the field located 105km offshore in approximately 900 metres of water will be performed in both Congo-Brazzaville and Angola by Subsea 7's Angolan joint venture.
