Canadian energy services company ShawCor’s Italian subsidiary has won a US$40mn pipeline coatings contract for a project off Congo-Brazzaville
According to ShawCor, Socotherm S.p.A. subsidiary won the deal for the Moho Nord oil pipeline, a deep-sea drilling project about 75km off the African coast. The project is expected to begin in Q2 2014.
The contract will see the Italian company coat approximately 165km of six- to 16-inch pipe and 19km of 16-inch pipe with a three-layer polypropylene anti-corrosion coating, and 42km of eight- to 10-inch pipe with a five-layer syntactic polypropylene coating.
The work is likely to carried out at Socotherm’s pipe coating facility in Pozzallo, Italy, as well as its plants in Adria, Italy, and Escobar, Argentina, the company said
The Moho Nord project is jointly owned by Total E&P Congo, Chevron Corporation and Congolese state-owned oil company SNPC.
