Maretap has successfully completed a remedial campaign on a number of oil wells in Tunisias Ezzaouia field
Maretap, a 50/50 joint venture managed by Tunisian national oil company ETAP and Candax Energy subsidiary Ecumed, embarked on a five-month long campaign to eliminate scale deposit in the production tubing and at the jet pump level on a number of Ezzaouia wells.
Jamil Hamza, production manager for Candax, said, "We are very pleased by the results of the remedial campaign and increased production and wish to congratulate the Maretap teams for this important step forward."
According to Candax, the work enabled five wells to return to production, while the Ezzaouia-1 well has been scheduled to resume production by the second half of December 2012.
The total Ezzaouia field daily production has now increased to approximately 750 barrels per day, which Candax described as "a significant improvement from production levels before the projects were undertaken".
