In Situ Site Investigations has signed an agreement to provide Unique Hydra with cone penetration testing (CPT) equipment and operators for oil and gas fields in Africa

In Situ Site Investigation is a geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation company. CPT is a method that determines the engineering properties of soils and assesses subsurface stratigraphy.

Unique Hydra, a subsidiary of a Unique Maritime Group (UMG) company based in Cape Town, is a provider of subsea rental equipment in Africa and a manufacturer of dive solutions. The product and service range includes design and manufacture of air, mixed gas and saturation diving equipment, marine winches, certified man-rider winches and specialised subsea rigging equipment among many others.

CPT equipments include marine systems, both near onshore and offshore, as well as a fully-fitted outland based CPT truck.

Darren Ward, director of In Situ, said, “Our agreement with Unique Hydra will give us a great opportunity to further develop the In Situ techniques at site investigations in Africa. Our companies share similar ethos and jointly we will be able to provide high quality and cost-effective services.”

Mike Jessop, managing director of Unique Hydra, added that with the continued growth in the rental business, the company has seen a great demand for CPT requirements.
