The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) announced that it will host a seminar on the use of the competence e-portfolio on 5 February 2019 in Aberdeen

IMCA has developed a competence e-portfolio for contractors to assess the skills and experience of freelance personnel in a more standardised way.

The seminar, ‘Re-establishing the vital role of competence and training’ is designed to give delegates a good understanding of the advantages of IMCA’s competence e-portfolio.

Nick Hough, IMCA Technical Adviser, said, “Contractors need to clearly evidence their capabilities. A CV is not always a satisfactory tool for that. The IMCA competence e-portfolio enables them to show how they have built their experience and are competent in taking on a role to the required standard.”

With presentations from industry experts and practical exercises, the seminar is for those involved in the assessment and verification of the competence of individuals; recruitment and training of technical professionals; crew planners and managers; human resource professionals; agency personnel; and freelance professionals.

The day will be chaired by Steve Benzie of i-Tech7, and Chairman of IMCA’s competence and training committee.
