Heirs Holdings, in partnership with Seadrill, has launched deepwater drillship West Jupiter in Nigerian waters

Heirs Holdings said that West Jupiter was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and will be operated by a Nigerian crew. The drillship has a capacity to operate in water depths of up to 3,660 metres.

According to the company, the launch of West Jupiter is a milestone in Nigerian business presence in the offshore sector, and aligns with the West African government’s policy of deeper indigenous participation in the oil and gas industry.

Tony O. Elumelu, chairman of Seadrill, said, “The partnership between Heirs Holdings and Seadrill is an important part of our strategy of investing in Africa’s long-term economic development.”
