CNOOC Research Institute of Refining and Petrochemicals (CRI) and hte have signed a contract on a high throughput catalyst testing system to be installed at CNOOC’s new laboratory in Beijing Future Science & Technology Park, China

Under the terms of the contract, hte will supply an X4500 16-fold reactor system to support CNOOC’s research activities in the field of hydroprocessing applications. The system is expected to be completed in 2018 to be installed at CNOOC’s new laboratory in Beijing.

hte is one of the leading global providers of high throughput technology and services for a faster and cost-effective catalysis R&D. The supply of the system to CNOOC’s laboratory aims to further expand hte’s exposure in the Chinese R&D market, said Wolfram Stichert, CEO at hte.

CNOOC, a major player is Africa’s oil and gas exploration activities, aims to strengthen its footprint in global oil and gas market. Recently, the company has undertaken the construction project of 1,445km East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), between Uganda and Tanzania, with other international oil and gas players including Total and Tullow Oil. In addition, CNOOC has tied up with Australia's FAR to explore oil and gas off West Africa.

With hte’s reactor technology, CNOOC aims to accelerate its catalyst testing while maintaining excellent data quality, a move that is seen to boost the company’s hydroprocessing applications.

The decision underlines CRI’s 2018 business strategy that endeavours to strengthen innovation and technology-driven philosophy.
