BP Angola has entered into an extension contract with Odfjell Drilling for its sixth generation ultra deepwater semi-submersible rig on Block 18
According to drilling company, the deal is the continuation of the existing contract and is for six wells with an estimated total duration of 13 months. This contract secures work for ‘Deepsea Stavanger’ for BP Angola through 2015, Odfjell Drilling added.
The unit is designed for operations in harsh environments and at water depths of up to 3,000 metres. It is equipped with a full conventional mooring spread for operations in water depths of 70 metres to 500 metres.
Estimated at US$210mn, the contract amendment includes two unpriced options for two wells each.
