A mesh-free epoxy passive fire protection coating, designed especially for the hydrocarbon-processing industries, has been launched by Jotun
The Jotachar JF750 coating offers an alternative to traditional mesh coating solutions. Additionally, installation time is faster and there are none of the risks associated with incorrect installation of mesh coatings.
Jotachar 1709 has been designed to protect steel against hydrocarbon pool fire scenarios for up to four hours. The coating also offers protection against corrosion and, in turn, reduced life-cycle costs and less time required for inspections and maintenance.
The product can be applied in a continuous application process, does not require additional welded pins, metal or fabric reinforcement, and is more durable than concrete or cementitious solutions. Extra weather-proofing is not required, unlike mesh-based steel protection applications.
