Harkand and ESOPEG have signed a joint venture to create a new company, Harkand Angola Lda

This new venture, based in Luanda, will focus on the development of local information rights management (IRM) capabilities, providing technical support and local content to a range of subsea projects.

"Harkand is very proud to bring its technology transfer, technical expertise and training contribution to the developing local subsea oil service sector in Angola," said Doug Fieldgate, general manager for Africa.

"This new venture, combined with the operations of the Swordfish DP2 multi-purpose vessel in the country, provides a very sound and sustainable operational basis for further development and growth, both in Angola and the African region as a whole," said Mr Fieldgate.

Harkand chief officer, John Reed described Angola as being among "the most resilient of the African regions in this sustained lower price climate" and said the latest joint venture complements the company's partnerships and local companies already operating in Africa.

As well as its ongoing work in Angola, Harkand has established joint ventures for subsea projects in Nigeria and Ghana in the last 12 months.
