Valaris Limited, offshore drilling services provider, has been awarded a one-well contract with Total E&P Côte dIvoire BV offshore Ivory Coast for drillship, VALARIS DS-12

The contract is expected to commence in the Q3 2021.

Côte d’Ivoire is accelerating its oil and gas activities in the region. Last year, geophysical firm Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) released new 900 sq km multi-azimuth broadband seismic survey, providing increased resolution and sharper imaging of prolific Upper Cretaceous plays in Côte d'Ivoire block CI-706.

In addition, Qatar Petroleum entered into a farm-in agreement with Total to acquire a 45% stake in blocks CI-705 and CI-706 in the Ivorian-Tano Basin, offshore Côte d'Ivoire.

The two blocks cover an area of about 3,200 sq km and present multi-target hydrocarbon prospects in water depths ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 m, 35 km from shore and about 100 km from nearby fields of Foxtrot, Espoir and Baobab.
