International oilfield services company Expro has been honoured with an Order of Distinction after receiving its 17th consecutive Gold award in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards

These are the UK’s longest running Health and Safety Awards with approximately 2,000 entrants each year.

The honour is presented to organisations that exhibit leading global health and safety practices, and recognises Expro’s continued success in safety, as well as a range of new safety initiatives the company has carried out during the past year.

These initiatives included Expro’s operations leaders conducting safety engagement sessions across the company to develop a continual improvement programme.

Additionally, in response to the COVID-19 pandemicExpro implemented appropriate health and safety measures to ensure the wellbeing of its employees with specific attention to the health and safety of its front line workers at bases and customer work sites.

With logistic and travel challenges, the company launched a number of highly successful virtual campaigns to maintain contact with global operations, ensured that health and safety audits and compliance were assured and continued developing the skills and competencies of personnel.

As previously announced, Expro has entered into a definitive agreement with Frank’s International, under which the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction to create a leading full-cycle service provider. The combination brings together two companies with decades of market leadership, best-in-class safety and service quality performance, exceptional talent and global capabilities in well construction, well flow management, subsea well access, well intervention and production services.

The transaction is expected to close in the quarter ending September 30, 2021, subject to approval by Frank's and Expro shareholders and customary closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals.

Stuart Paterson, Expro’s global HSE and service quality director, said, “Irrespective of the unprecedented challenges across the world since the start of 2020, we implemented alternative measures to ensure we maintained wellbeing and achieved safety milestones.

“This award demonstrates the exceptional commitment of our employees to maintain focus and dedication towards what’s important. They deserve all the praise for continuing to champion safety despite the challenging situations and potential distractions that were encountered.”

RoSPA has continually recognised Expro since 2005, including four oil and gas sector awards, two Scotland Trophy awards in 2013 and 2020, the Gold Medal in 2010, as well as the President’s Award in 2016.
