Total E&P Angola has awarded CGGVeritas a contract for the inversion of 4D seismic data covering the Dalia, Rosa, Girassol, and Jasmine fields offshore Angola.

Hampson-Russell Software & Services, a CGGVeritas company, will undertake the inversion work, with a substantial amount drawing on the local expertise of the CGGVeritas Luanda processing and imaging centre. The project will use the Hampson-Russell proprietary global 4-D elastic inversion product, StratiSI 4-D.

Philippe Doyen, vice president, R&D, Hampson-Russell Services, said, "Having proved this technology in the North Sea, this is an important opportunity to apply it in West Africa.
"With the increasing number of 4-D vintages available over producing fields, global 4-D inversion is better constrained and yields results that are more readily interpretable in terms of production effects. In particular, it can provide quantitative estimates of reservoir properties, such as fluid saturation, with more certainty and capture the movement of fluids and changes in pressure with greater accuracy."
