The project should produce 4.5 MMcf/d according to Eni, which jointly owns Petrobel with EGPC via its affiliate IEOC. BP is the co-venturer in the Temsah concession.
Tuna has been developed by a new four-leg platform in around 80 m (262 ft) of water, with three production wells and 14 km (8.7 mi) of 24 in. (61 cm) export pipeline connecting to existing infrastructure.
Eni describes Temsah concession as one of Egypt’s most prolific offshore concessions, delivering total production of over 170,000 boepd.
Other current programmes are infill drilling in the Temsah field and development of the Denise B field, which is due to start up in 2011. Since 2009, Eni adds, the Temsah concession partners have benefited from improved contractual terms.
Eni says the development of this project is further evidence of its commitment to Egypt and in particular to its contribution to meeting increasing domestic gas demand by exploring and developing the still substantially untapped gas resources in the Mediterranean.
