Shell and Equinor have signed major agreements to kickstart engineering operations on their US$42bn Tanzania LNG project 

The companies will now initiate engineering work on the project that can potentially yield about 10-15 mn tonne per annum LNG on the coast at Lindi.

“Equinor, Shell, their partners, together with the Tanzanian government have now concluded negotiations on important agreements that will help progress the Tanzania LNG project towards an investable and globally competitive opportunity,” Equinor said in a statement.

First production from the Lindi LNG plant is anticipated around 2030.
