UK-based oil and gas services provider Petrofac and Italy’s Bonatti have partnered to work on a US$650mn engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project for Sonatrach, to extend the life of the Alrar gas field in south-east Algeria
According to Petrofac, the project will run for 32 months and the work would involve developing a new separation and booster compression facilities at the Alrar field.
Petrofac’s ongoing EPC activities in Algeria include development of the southern fields for In Salah Gas (ISG), an association between Sonatrach, BP and Statoil.
Petrofac managing director for onshore engineering and construction business, Subramanian Sarma, said, "We are delighted to be partnering with Bonatti to deliver this project for Sonatrach at the Alrar field. This development builds on Petrofac's successful history in Algeria, where we have been operating for more than 15 years.”
Bonatti chief executive officer Paolo Ghirelli said, “Petrofac and Bonatti partnered to provide a competitive proposal for this project, which is Bonatti's second EPC contract at Alrar. We look forward to working closely with Petrofac on this important project."
