Kinetiko Energy has signed an MoU with White Rivers Exploration to explore over 716km of gas holding in South Africa’s Karoo Basin coalfields
The MoU covers three technical co-operation permits (TCPs) at Heilbron, Kroonstadt and Ventersburg, which are known to contain coal measures in depth. The six-month contract enables the parties to jointly explore various oil and gas opportunities for coal bed methane (CBM).
According to Kinetiko Energy, Methane and helium gas have been encountered in significant quantities in coal and mineral bore holes in the three permits.
White Rivers Exploration currently holds the coal exploration rights over the onshore gas TCPs. The TCPs reportedly enable holders access to available data held by government agencies for studies. This permit also gives the right to convert the area into an exploration right (ER).
