The company says preliminary results are extremely encouraging for the unexplored prospects on this license.
Aminex increased its interest in Nyuni from 40 per cent to 50 per cent last summer and the Nyuni Joint Venture has agreed to drill an exploration well, probably in 2011.
Aminex says it cannot quantify the Kiliwani North discovery at present, but should be able to do so in the coming weeks. Kiliwani North-1 flowed gas at 40MMcf/d in 2008 under full production test conditions.
The partners have agreed gas commercialisation terms in principle with the Tanzanian authorities and these will likely be finalised early in 2010. They are still waiting for approval for plant upgrading to handle the field's gas. Kiliwani North is held under an appraisal licence.
On completion of the appraisal program, the partners will apply for a development licence.
