Aminex, has announced that its Ntorya-1 exploration well in the Ruvuma Basin, onshore Tanzania, has encountered strong gas shows

The East African and US-focused independent oil firm, found the gas in good-quality reservoir sand after having drilled to a depth of 2,750 m. The reservoir sand was encountered at a depth of 2,660 m.

A logging programme will begin shortly to evaluate the new section drilled below 2,500 m and a further update will be provided after the logging programme has been completed. The Ntorya-1 well is designed to test the high-quality Basal Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous sands previously encountered in the Likonde-1 well, 14 km to the north.

Participants in the deepening of the well below 2,500 m include operator Ndovu Resources (Aminex), with 75 per cent, and Solo Oil (25 per cent).
