NIGERIAN ENERGY PLAYER, Oando Energy Services Ltd, has announced the signing of a US$150mn two-year drilling contract with Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) for its oilfields in the Niger Delta swamps.
This contract further demonstrates the companys commitment to its audacious upstream expansion having invested significantly in the rigs business over the last two years with aspirations of becoming a dominant player in the land and swamp rig business.

 

PETROCELTIC HAS COMMENCED drilling operations on the Isarene permit in Algeria. Drilling began in the INE-2 well on May 16, 2009.


CHINA PETROCHEMICAL CORP will drill its first exploration well in the Nigeria-São Tomé and Principe Joint Development Zone in July after a lengthy delay caused by a shortage of deepwater rigs.


FRENCH GIANT TOTAL has found “positive results” at its Moho Nord Marine-4 well, about 75 km off of the Republic of Congo.

BP has made its eighteenth discovery on ultra-deepwater Block 31 offshore Angola.

The discovery, named Oberon, is in the southern portion of the block about 335 km northwest of Luanda and 4.3 km to the northeast of the Dione discovery.
