TULLOW OIL HAS bought 25 per cent interest in LB-15, LB-16 and LB-17 licenses in Liberia in January. The company joined US independent Anadarko Petroleum and Spain’s Repsol YPF to explore in Liberia.
The partners will also work together with Australia’s Woodside Petroleum. It will be “typical deepwater exploration” with a “commitment for seismic and drilling of an exploration well,” according to Angus McCoss, exploration director. Tullow is expanding its exploration along the West African coast and targets about 4bn barrels of oil equivalent in crude and gas resources in the Gulf of Guinea off Ghana and Ivory Coast.
