Perenco’s subsidiary venture in Cameroon called Perenco Rio del Rey has announced the commencement of a drilling campaign of developing five wells on the Kita Eden field, in the northern section of the Rio del Rey Basin

The field's challenging shallow waters (4m) and strong currents makes it a tricky site, which has been left untouched since 1984. Perenco remains confident to take up the challenge with the support of its services subsidiary, Dixstone, with its specifically desined, shallow water barge. The barge adds to Dixstone’s LUG platform that boasts of delivering more than 16 million barrels of oil in Cameroon in the last five years.

This comes following Perenco Rio del Rey’s 20-year licence agreement with the Cameroon state and partner, Addax Petroleum Cameroon that was signed last year.

Armel Simondin, MD of Perenco Rio del Rey and Perenco Group CEO designate, said, “Once again, we are demonstrating our firm commitment and ability to unlock stranded reserves in very mature fields. As a result of this campaign, Cameroon can look forward to the Kita Eden field still producing for decades to come.”
