HRT has leased the semi-submersible Transocean Marianas and will begin its drilling campaign offshore Namibia in late 2012 to early 2013

The rig will be leased under a 280-day contract which it is hoped will provide enough time for at least four exploration wells to be drilled. The final contract will reportedly be signed within the next two weeks.

'We are very happy with the pace of our exploration campaign in Namibia," said HRT chief executive officer Marcio Mello.

"The Transocean Marianas is the perfect rig for our project. Her ability to operate in shallow-waters and in deep-waters allows her to drill all of our prospects, with water depths ranging from 160 to 1,800 m.

"HRT will be testing excellent quality prospects that together hold resources in excess of 28 billion barrels of oil equivalent," Mello added.
