Following approval from authorities concerned, Eni has announced the closing for the sale to Perenco of its participation interest in several upstream permits in Congo, non-core to the company strategy in the country 

This confirms with the company's strategy to concentrate its upstream activities on major developments.

Operating in Congo for more than 50 years, Eni considers the country a core strategy with regards to the security of supplies and the energy transition initiatives.

Eni is also firm on developing vast gas resources to not only meet international market demand but also fulfil the country’s power generation needs.

The company currently supplies gas to the Congo Electric Power Station (CEC), which provides 70% of the country's electricity production.
