Italian oil and gas firm Eni has started production at the Agogo oilfield, located in the 15/06 Block offshore Angola

The start-up took place nine months after the discovery.

It was supported by the operational synergies facilitated from the Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) Ngoma, located 15km from the oilfield.

The Agogo-1 well was drilled at a depth of about 1700 m and currently produces about 10,000 bopd. The output is set to reach 20,000 bpd over the next few weeks.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the field holds more than 650 mmbbl of oil in place, with additional potential to be verified following the drilling of new delineation wells.

The discoveries made in Block 15/06 during the 2006-2011 and 2011-2014 exploration periods led to the execution of two projects, the West Hub and the East Hub, with the installation of two floating FPSO platforms, which started production in 2014 and 2017, respectively. The two production hubs comprise eight fields developed through 42 underwater wells and by the end of 2019 total production exceeded 180 mmbbl of oil.

From the second half of 2018, Eni Angola and the JV partners (Sonangol and SSI Fifteen) launched a new exploration campaign in Block 15/06 that led to the discovery of five new fields, which, according to preliminary estimates, contain about two billion barrels of oil in place, which doubles the field figures previously discovered and developed by the West Hub and East Hub.
