A 3D seismic survey in Mauritanias Block C19 is now underway, according to operator Chariot Oil & Gas

The programme, which commenced on 15 November 2012, and the acquisition have been scheduled to take an estimated 90 days to complete.

"We are very pleased to be able to commence this seismic operation so soon after acquiring the licence. This is largely due to the support provided by the Ministries of Environment, Fisheries and Energy and it is this spirit of cooperation that makes Mauritania such a great country in which to conduct our business," said Paul Welch, CEO of Chariot.

“Chariot continues its aggressive exploration programme within its broadening West African portfolio. This 3D seismic acquisition campaign will enable the company to mature the subsurface potential of Block C19 and create a portfolio of prospects in our Mauritanian acreage,” added Welch.

Block C19, in which the African oil and gas company has a 90 per cent stake, is located in the Central Atlantic Margin, offshore Mauritania.
