Mozambique will host a gas summit entitled “Unleashing Mozambique’s Vast Gas Potential” in Maputo from 12-14 March 2013
The summit has been organised by the London-based CWC group in conjunction with Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH).
The speakers will include Mozanbique's minister of mineral resources, Esperanca Bias, and ENH chairman Nelson Ocuane among others.
The themes to be discussed will include the need to incorporate local content as the gas industry developed and the current legal framework for the hydrocarbons industry.
The summit will also look at forthcoming exploration and licensing rounds, partnerships and joint ventures and logistical challenges. It will also see a session on the role of international finance.
Recent discoveries in the Rovuma Basin off the coast of the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado have already indicated the existence of more than 100 trillion cu ft of natural gas. Meanwhile, the Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum Corporation said in November 2013 that it could be looking at producing 50mn tonnes of liquefied natural gas per annum from its concession in the Rovuma Basin.
