ExxonMobil took out the Excellence in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry award, in honour of the company's significant discoveries and development activities, and its contribution to the Nigerian economy. In particular, the company has made an important deepwater discovery with the Owowo field potentially holding 1bn barrels of oil.
The Nigerian Content Implementation award went to Marine Platforms for its ability to create local jobs while controlling production costs, good corporate governance under the leadership of managing director, Taofik Adegbite, and excellence in training local people, and becoming a company that other players, such as the NNPC, turn to for training and expertise.
