Technip and South Africa’s energy company Sasol have announced that they have established an alliance for front-end engineering services for future Sasol gas to liquids (GTL) projects

The move will also allow for the French engineering company’s participation during the execution stage of future Sasol GTL projects.

GTL technology is the process of converting natural gas into petroleum products such as naphtha and diesel fuel. According to reports, these fuels are free of pollution-causing sulfur or aromatic hydrocarbons.

Nello Uccelletti, senior vice president onshore at Technip, said, “Through the acquisition of Stone & Webster process technologies, Technip has become the exclusive co-developer of Sasol’s hydrocarbon synthesis reactor technology.”

Lean Strauss, senior group executive of Sasol, added that the firm was excited about its GTL future.
