A helicopter crash in Angola has left four people dead, with four also confirmed to be missing, Chevron revealed on Tuesday


The helicopter departed Malongo port in Angolas Cabinda province at 3.30pm local time on the way to Tombua-Landana offshore oil platform but did not reach its destination.

"The helicopter did not reach its intended destination. It was carrying five passengers and one pilot," Chevron said in a statement, noting that one of the passengers on board was an employee while four others werre contractors.

"Extensive search and rescue activities continue for those who remain missing."

The company has not made any comment on the impact of the crash on oil production or on the search and rescue operation, which saw 19 marine vessels and three helicopters attend the scene.
