ENGenious 2020 to address the challenges of new oil price and energy transition

The second edition of ENGenious 2020 will take place at P&J Live, Aberdeen from 22-24 September under the theme ‘Accelerating to a New Energy Norm’

The event will feature a conference programme curated by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and an exhibition staged by Reed Exhibitions, the partnership behind SPE Offshore Europe.

The organisers expect more than 1,200 attendees and 40 exhibiting companies to participate in the three-day event that will unite the most inspiring leaders and thinkers in digital and technological transformation.

Sian Lloyd-Rees, conference chair of ENGenious 2020 and head of UK & SVP Europe & Africa at Aker Solutions, said learning from others how digital technologies have reshaped their industries, sometimes dramatically, can help us maximise the business benefits of data and new technologies in our own industry. Similarly, broader understanding of the technologies already developed for our industry will help us achieve the pace of change needed.

“As an industry we have continually innovated and adjusted to new norms. ENGenious is an opportunity to learn and share experience on how we accelerate the next stage of our journey using digital tools, technologies, knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the new oil price environment and the energy transition. Each company will choose its own approach, but we can all learn from listening to what others have done,” she added.

Two plenary panel sessions will focus on learning from industries as diverse as healthcare, military, space, automotive and banking and from those that are leading the way in the energy industry. Day three will introduce a hackathon organised in collaboration with the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC). An Innovation Hub will give small companies the opportunity to present to delegates on the show floor.

Partners already committed include ABB, BP, Baker Hughes, Microsoft, OGTC and Saudi Aramco.
