The Newbuild Transocean Honor will go to work for Chevron in Angola on a three-year contract, according to the drilling company
The high-spec jackup, the first in a series of three under construction by the driller, can work in up to 122 m of water and penetrate to a total depth of 9,144 m, Transocean said.
Work is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2012 at a day rate of $149,000, according to the company.
The rig's name was decided by an employee contest, with the final choice intended to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in 2010 on the Deepwater Horizon.
