The acquisition of passive seismic data is well under way at Block 2A, onshore Kenya, according to an update from Simba Energy
Simba holds a 100 per cent interest in the production sharing contract (PSC) for Block 2A.
Following the assessment of new data, Simba has now decided to increase the coverage area of the passive seismic survey five-fold from 750 sq km to approximately 4,000 sq km.
This will utilise 218 data/listening stations and a geochemical survey will also be performed.
This area lies within a junction of two basin trends and Simba's technical staff believe it to be geologically analogous to the area in Block 10BB drilled by Tullow Oil and Africa Oil.
Simba is currently considering its options regarding Block 2A, including a potential farm-out.
