Eni makes US$3bn commitments to additional exploration and development work in Egypt

Eni’s chief operating officer Claudio Descalzi made the pledge at a meeting in Cairo with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Abdallah Ghorab.

The additional activities will include drilling of new development wells and the acceleration of production from new discoveries, as well as drilling of 12 exploration wells.

The work will be carried out in the Western Desert, in the Mediterranean and in Sinai, according to Eni. Eni currently has operated production in Egypt of about 500,000 boed.
