Total, operator of Block III, Albertine Graben, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has finalised the acquisition of the 2D seismic survey over the northern part of the Block III area
SacOil announced that Total successfully completed the acquisition of 244km of 2D seismic data. The block is located near Lake Albert, which has shorelines in DRC and Uganda, and the survey did not encroach on the Virunga National Park. This acquisition programme is in fulfillment of the minimum work programme obligations.
The next step will be to process and interpret the seismic data and then integrate these results with the gravity and magnetic data, which has already been acquired. SacOil, a South African-based independent oil and gas company, owns a 12.5 per cent effective interest in Block III.
