Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has announced that three Nigerian refineries — Kaduna, Warri and Port Harcourt — supplied three million cubic metres of petroleum products domestically in 2012
The products included premium motor spirit (PMS), automated gasoline oil (AGO) and dual purpose kerosene (DPK).
Haruna Momoh, managing director of PPMC, said, “The amount of PMS supplied was 1,100,000 cubic metres, AGO was 1,047,000 cubic metres and DPK stood at 760,000 cubic metres.”
The figures were reached in spite of the three refineries working below 50 per cent their installed capacities, the Daily Trust reported. Reports recently claimed that the current combined output of petroleum products from the three refineries was 445,000 bpd.
The daily consumption of petroleum in Nigeria is 33,000 cubic metres, 12,000 cubic metres of gas and 10,000 cubic metres of kerosene.
Momoh said that, despite many challenges during the year, PPMC was able to recommision many depots and is planning to commission more this year.
Some of the petroleum depots re-commissioned include Aba and Benin. The recommissioning of Gombe, Enugu, Maiduguri and Makurdi depots were already underway, Momoh added.
