BG Group has selected ASCO to provide supply base services for its operations in Tanzania under a three-year contract for US$100mn
The new contract will see ASCO work for a number of partners — BG Group, Statoil, Petrobras and Ophir Energy. The four operators are engaged in deepwater exploration offshore Tanzania.
Services include warehousing, vessel loading and unloading, pipeyard storage, the provision of bulk chemicals as well as facilities management services.
The company said that the supply base will be operated out of the port of Mtwara in the East African country.
Euan Lockhart, ASCO’s chief executive officer for the Middle East and Africa, said, “This is a fabulous contract award for us. It gives ASCO a firm foothold in East Africa. We established the company in the Middle East and Africa just over three years ago when we launched our business in Oman. Slowly but surely, we have been building our reputation across the region.”
