Crondall Energy has secured a contract with Aker Solutions and Subsea 7 for Ophir Energy’s Fortuna LNG project offshore Equatorial Guinea
The UK-based company will provide technical support to the consortium for the upstream competitive front-end engineering and design (FEED) process and includes all aspects of the subsea design. The Fortuna project is a deepwater gas field in offshore block R and will be developed in phases using an FLNG facility.
This contract extends Crondall Energy’s involvement with the Fortuna project. Previously, the company had done early field development concept work and conceptual engineering of both the subsea and FLNG facilities for the project.
The consortium of Aker Soultions and Subsea 7 had won the competitive FEED contract from Ophir Energy in early July, the other competing consortium being made up of McDermott Marine Construction Limited and GE Oil & Gas UK Limited.
Ophir Energy had also announced earlier that Golar LNG will be the midstream partner for the project, and will build, own and operate an FLNG vessel for the project, which will be called ‘Gimi’.
A final investment decision for the project will be made in mid-2016 and Ophir Energy expects first gas from the field in 2019.
