Oliver Valves selected for £2mn+ Angola oil project

OLIVER VALVES, MANUFACTURERS of high performance valves, has been selected to supply subsea and topside valves for the Kizomba Satellites project on Block 15, offshore Angola.

The project will create new wells feeding into the existing Kizomba A and B facilities, which currently provide around 30 per cent of Angola’s crude oil production.

Under the contract, which is worth more than £2mn, Oliver Valves will supply and install Twinsafe single unit double block and bleed (DBB) valves for the topside portion of the project and a range of small bore gate valves, needle valves and ball valves for the subsea sections.

The valves will be built and tested at Oliver Valves’ headquarters in Knutsford, UK, and the project will be supported by staff at the firm’s bases in Aberdeen, UK, and Houston, Texas.

Paul Shillito, engineering director at Oliver Valves said: "Block 15 is in a remote location and under more than a kilometre of water and the valves we supply will be controlling the flow of oil at nearly 400 times atmospheric pressure and more than 120°C."
