Angola LNG and EDF Trading have signed a contract of sale and delivery of liquefied natural gas shipments
Under the new deal, Angola LNG will deliver natural gas shipments between 2016 and 2018, according to a statement the company recently released in Luanda.
Artur Pereira, CEO of Angola LNG Marketing Ltd, is quoted in the statement saying that this contract is “an important milestone for the parties” as it was signed shortly after the recent re-entry into operation of the Soyo processing unit.
The announcement was made in Beijing by the oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos, when he said Angola LNG will restart production in June 2016.
Angola LNG was instructed to collect, process and sell around 5.2mn tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year, as well as propane, butane and condensates, from its manufacturing facilities in Soyo. The company's LNG's partners are Chevron US (36.4 per cent), Sonangol (22.8 per cent), BP Exploration, ENI of Italy and Total of France with 13.6 per cent each.
Commenting on the new agreement Artur Pereira, CEO, Angola LNG Marketing said, “This marks an important milestone for Angola LNG as it re-enters the market. We look forward to working with EDF Trading.”
Also pleased by the new partnership, John Rittenhouse, chief executive, EDF Trading said, “We are looking forward to developing our relationship with Angola LNG”. “Through this agreement, we will be working closely with Angola LNG to optimise the LNG through the European wholesale market.”
