The Cabaça South East-2 well, at 470 m (1,542 ft) about 100 km (62 m) from the coast, successfully appraised the Cabaça South East discovery.
During production tests, the well flowed high quality 34° API degrees oil at rates of about 7,000 bpd. The rates were limited by surface facilities.
Statoil says evaluations indicate that the appraisal well has increased the initial estimate of oil in place for the discovery by 30 per cent and that a second productive hub in the North East area, which will double the expected production of block 15/06, is now a reality.
Eni is the operator and Sonangol holds the concession.
