Here is a brief overview of the week’s news on Oil Review Africa, from 24th - 28th July 2017

Africa Oil commence unsuccessful drilling at Etiir-1 exploration well in Kenya 

According to a statement by Africa Oil, the Etiir-1 exploration well, which targeted a large, shallow, structural closure immediately to the west of the Greater Etom structure, spudded in late June and was unsuccessful with no material reservoir development or shows encountered. Although dry, this well has helped define the westerly extent of the Greater Etom Structure. Click here to read the full story

Cameroon to boost LNG export from offshore projects 

Cameroon has decided to start exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its newly designed offshore plant by the end of 2017, focusing on slashing production costs and unlocking the potential of African reserves that were not so far considered economically profitable. Windfire sign agreement to acquire offshore oil blocks in Namibia 

Windfire Capital Corp have announced that it has signed a letter of intent, dated July 24, 2017, with DMiner Asset Management Inc, pursuant to which Windfire proposes to acquire 91.5 per cent of the issued and outstanding shares of Riviera Mina Ltd, a company incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, from DMiner. Oil to improve Uganda’s economy growth by four per cent: IMF 

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has stated that the newly discovered oil reserves in Uganda may account for around four per cent of the country’s economy annually in next few years if managed well. Click here to read the full story.
