Partnerships for Prosperity:

Unlocking Mozambique’s Resources to Advance National & Regional Economic Growth.

The Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (MMEC) is the most unique convergence of high-level decision makers representing the oil and gas, mining and energy sectors in the country. For two days, the prestigious Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in Maputo served as the eminent industry meeting point bringing together the most important local, regional and international stakeholders. Hosted in Mozambique’s vibrant coastal capital, Maputo, from the 2nd to the 3rd of May, the special commemorative 10th MMEC broke attendance records and showcased why Mozambique is a premier hub and one of the most exciting global players in mining and energy.

Held under the distinguished High Patronage of His Excellency Felipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, who officially opened the event, the 2024 edition of MMEC focussed on the main theme, “Partnerships for Prosperity: Unlocking Mozambique’s Resources to Advance National & Regional Economic Growth.” Conference delegates heard high level perspectives from international organisations, through keynote speeches from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO) represented by their respective Secretaries General, H.E. Mohamed HAMEL and              H.E. Omar Farouk IBRAHIM. Distinguished government Ministers from  Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, and hosts Mozambique kicked off the conference with a High-Level Ministerial roundtable moderated by award winning financial journalist and broadcaster, Fifi Peters while Ambassador Peter H. VroomanUnited States Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique also delivered keynote guest speaker remarks.

75 engaging local, regional, and international expert speakers deliberated, debated, and engaged with the record more than 600 delegates from 25 countries unpacking topical issues through 10 exciting panel sessions. This exciting commemorative edition also enjoyed as one of its exceptional highlights, a glamourous Gala Dinner and Awards Night that paid special tribute to some of Mozambique’s most distinguished individuals, companies and organisations in the mining and energy sectors. Other new exciting features included an SME Pavilion coordinated in partnership with representative associations and an Ambassador Program highlighting students that have participated in the organisation of past MMEC editions who have successfully moved on to work in the mining and energy sectors.

MMEC is planned and organised by AME Moçambique in association with Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) and it is supported by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME).
